Database
Database is the data system of Small BIM Studio. Once users assign a cost code (Keynote) to a model, the Add-in maps prices from the Database to the Revit Model quantities and calculates costs automatically, producing a cost estimate. It supports two modes: Online (connected to a central JSON source with live updates) and Offline (local files within your organization) to cover both up-to-date and version-locked scenarios.
Online Database
Online mode fetches data from a central JSON source (read-only) so the team always gets the latest prices and items. It supports searching, category filtering, and rows-per-page selection.

- Online Database provides the latest prices from a single trusted source, ensuring consistent pricing across all projects
- If the internet connection is unstable, consider switching to Offline mode below
- In the future, additional region-specific pricing across Thailand may be added to support a wider range of projects
Offline Database
Offline Database contains the same data as Online Database but is downloaded to your local machine or company server. It is ideal for projects that require version-locked data throughout the project lifecycle, independent of online updates. You can also edit the data to match your organization's standards or requirements.
- Go to the Small BIM Studio Drive to download the Offline Database
- Store the file in your desired folder, e.g.
\\Company\BIM\Database\2024\ - Configure the Add-in to point to that folder
- If you need to edit, modify only the data inside the file while keeping the main columns (ItemCode, Unit, Description, etc.) intact
- Maintain data versioning, e.g. specify the date and editor, so you can reference it later
